Privacy Policy

Gate: Morning Steps (“Gate” or “the app”) is made by Pointed Designs LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a Florida limited liability company. This policy explains how Gate handles information. Gate runs entirely on your device, and we do not collect, store, or receive your personal information.

Overview

• Gate has no accounts and no servers. There is nowhere for us to send your information, and we do not operate any service that could receive it.
• Gate contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code of any kind. Everything the app does happens on your phone.
• Your step data, the apps you choose to lock, and your schedule never leave your device. We do not see any of this information.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your information, because we do not have it.

Information Gate uses on your device

To do its job, Gate reads and stores certain information locally on your iPhone. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party.

Step and motion data. Gate reads your step count from your device's motion sensor (through Apple's Motion & Fitness system) to know when you have reached your daily step goal. This reading happens entirely on your phone. Gate keeps each morning's final step count, goal, and opening time in an on-device log — roughly the last two months — so you can see your month's progress on the Home screen; that log never leaves your phone and is deleted when you delete the app. Gate does not send your step data anywhere, and does not use it for any purpose other than deciding when the gate opens and showing you your own progress.

Gate's use of HealthKit is limited to being notified that your step count has changed, so it can check your progress promptly; Gate never reads specific health values from HealthKit and never writes anything to HealthKit. All step counting is done through the Motion & Fitness system, not HealthKit.

The apps and websites you choose to lock. When you select which apps to gate, Apple's Screen Time system (Family Controls) gives Gate opaque tokens that represent your choices. These tokens cannot be read by us, are meaningless outside your device, and never leave your phone. Gate cannot see the names of the apps you picked.

Your schedule and settings. Your gate times, step goal, rest days, and similar settings are stored locally on your device so the app can function. They are not transmitted anywhere.

All of the above is stored in your app's private storage on your device. If you delete Gate, this information is removed with it.

Information we do not collect

Gate does not collect, and we do not receive:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
• Your location
• A history or record of your steps, activity, or health
• Which apps you use or how you use them
• Any advertising or tracking identifiers
• Any usage analytics or behavioral data

Gate contains no third-party software development kits, no analytics tools, and no crash-reporting tools.

Apple Crash Analytics

Independently of Gate, Apple's operating system offers a setting called "Share With App Developers" (or similar) that you may have turned on when you set up your iPhone. If you have that setting enabled, Apple — not Gate — may collect crash and usage information at the operating-system level and provide us with anonymized, aggregated crash reports and analytics through Apple's developer tools. This is Apple's system, governed by Apple's own privacy policy, and it is the same for essentially every app on your iPhone. It is not something Gate includes or controls, and any information we receive this way is aggregated and does not identify you. You can review or change this setting in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

We mention this only so our promise is precise: Gate itself sends us nothing, but Apple's device-level program may share anonymized diagnostics with us if you have opted into it with Apple.

Payments

Gate offers a subscription and a one-time purchase through Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never see, and never receive, your payment card details, billing address, or Apple Account information. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy and terms. When you subscribe, Gate learns only whether you have an active entitlement — a yes-or-no answer provided by Apple's system on your device — and nothing about your identity or payment.

Children

Gate is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, or any user.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Gate handles information, we will update this policy and change the "Last updated" date above. Because Gate collects no personal information, we do not expect material changes, but if the app ever begins collecting or transmitting information, we will update this policy before that change takes effect and describe it plainly.
